General Hostel Rules

GENERAL HOSTEL RULES

  1. Every hosteller is responsible for his/her personal belongings and the hostel management cannot be held responsible for any theft. Hostellers are advised to keep their rooms, suitcases, etc., securely locked.
  2. Hostellers are not permitted to go out of the hostel except with the Warden’s permission. Permission forms are to be submitted when hostellers leave the hostel for any purpose, including vacation. On return, counterfoils of the permission forms should be submitted to the Warden.
  3. Hostellers are generally discouraged from staying out of the hostel during weekends and short holidays. However, in extraordinary circumstances, if they wish to stay out of the hostel, their parents/guardians must phone the Warden from registered telephones. Requests from non-registered phones will not be entertained.
  4. Students are not allowed to stay in the hostel during class hours unless the stay is unavoidable due to illness or other valid reasons. In such cases they should seek permission from the Warden.
  5. Cleanliness is next to godliness. Time will be allotted for daily and weekly cleanliness of the hostel and surroundings.
  6. Use of mobile phones / tablets / laptops will be regulated during study and sleep hours. They can be used after class up to the study hours. On holidays they can be used as per the discretion of the Warden. If they are required for study students can seek permission from the Warden individually.
  7. Social Media Policy: Students should be extremely cautious about the news and photographs they post about the college / hostel, students and staff on social media. Avoid posting or forwarding anything that is offensive or defamatory. Such content, whether posted by students, staff or outsiders, will be reported to government law enforcement authorities.
  8. The Hostel is a centre for study and personality development. It is not a rehabilitation centre. Hence, consumption of alcohol, use of drugs and narcotics and even possession of such substances are prohibited. Anyone violating this rule will be asked to vacate the hostel.
  9. If any hosteller is found indulging in any form of instigation/ intimidation/ threat to any other hosteller, he/she will be asked to vacate the hostel forthwith. In this regard, the decision of the Warden is final and binding on the individuals concerned. Instances of ragging will be dealt with strictly according to law.
  10. Destruction / damage of hostel property should be paid for by the hosteller(s) concerned. Cost of repairs / replacements for unacknowledged damages will have to be shared by all the hostellers.
  11. Hostellers have to obtain a clearance certificate from the Warden in order to be eligible for the issue of admit cards and mark sheets of the Board / Selection examinations. The Warden will issue the clearance certificate only when all dues to the hostel have been fully cleared.
  12. Fines, as per the Discipline Schedule, may be levied for violation of hostel rules.
